Windows 11 - Software hangs when Ethernet interface is enabled
Windows 11 - Software hangs when Ethernet interface is enabled
I recently updated to the latest software version on my computer. Lenovo Yoga Windows 11. I am unable to launch the software as a user or administrator unless I am connected to the Internet? I have tried several online suggestions with no luck. I tried with and with out the 1024 dongle hooked up, this has no effect on launching the software. Please advise me what I should attempt to do. I've run this software for 10 years without being online?
Re: Version 9.4.7 issue
There may be some latency when you declare an Ethernet interface in our software and the software cannot find it.
At startup, our software asks the operating system to communicate with the interface. The operating system may then take up to about 30 seconds to return a "NO" response to our software. However, the software should not remain stuck indefinitely.
Could you please post the contents of the following file?
C:\Users\YourSessionName\TheLightingController\param.ini
We will check this possibility.

Re: Version 9.4.7 issue
Thank you for your help!
I looked at the file as directed and found this :
ETHERNETENABLE = yes
Changed that entry to = no
Hit save, closed file.
Launched Showxpress and everything loaded up instantly!
Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it!!!!

Re: Version 9.4.7 issue
Glad to hear that this solved the problem.
However, this behavior is not normal. When our software asks the operating system to communicate with an Ethernet interface and the interface cannot be found, the operating system should return control to our software after a reasonable timeout so that it can continue loading.
In your case, it appears that this does not happen as expected when the Ethernet interface option is enabled.
We will add this case to our internal issue report for further investigation.
Thank you for your feedback and for helping us identify the problem.
