Auto BPM for MacOS
Auto BPM for MacOS
I'm trying to implement the AUTO BPM but I do not see it in the Mac version. I checked my sound input and the mic is on. Does AUTO BPM no longer exist in the newest version 6.26?
Re: AUTO BPM for MAC
Sorry but Auto BPM is presently not available on MacOS.
This is in the TODO list, but no date for it because of big job.

+1 interested when you find time to implement it.
Many thanks,

Re: Auto BPM for MacOS
Please Please Please!! Work on the Auto BPM for Mac! It would be greatly appreciated.
BTW. what seems to be the problem stopping this from happening?

Firstly, because this is a big job.
Moreover, we think "auto BPM" is not a lot used, because accuracy may vary depending on music.
Please try it under Windows, and tell us afterwards if still interesting for you.

Add MIDI timecode feature?
At the moment, it seems that BPM in Sweetlight for Mac can only be controlled by tap tempo and manual entry. In the PC version, there is an auto BPM from sound, but it's usefulness and accuracy are limited. Is it possible to tie the BPM to a type of MIDI timecode (MTC or the like) so the BPM of Sweetlight could be controlled from an external MIDI source. (like a DJ console) It would be really sweet if it could recognize Apple CoreMidi as well. Any possiblity this dream may come true?

Re: Auto BPM for MacOS
Midi to BPM is already available (viewtopic.php?f=53&t=1232).
Regarding MTC to BPM, please explain how to proceed.

Re: Auto BPM for MacOS
I'll use Ableton Live as an expample since I have a setup that already works like this. In Live, the BPM can be set manually through tap tempo or slider. Let's say I have the BPM set to 100 to begin with. I have a Kaosillator Pro run into Live as a MIDI controller. On the Kaossilator, there is an internal tap tempo that can be synced via MTC in SMPTE format. Let's now say I tap into the Kaosillator a tempo of 144. Live runs at 100BPM, until I hit a button to lock it into the Kaosillator MTC, then the music jumps to 144 and follows the kaossilaor BPM if it moves up or down.
For this, replace Live with Sweetlight, and a Kaosillator in front of me with a Kaosillator in front of the DJ on stage. The DJ can use Apple CoreMidi to send MIDI with MTC to the lighting computer. Ideally, one would be able to find an available midi input with MTC, and then select to sync Sweetlight BPM with the MTC via Apple CoreMidi coming from the DJ.
Now, if the DJ speeds up or slows down the music, the lighting software follows the music analizers and beatmaps of the DJ software, keeping the show in sync no matter what, allowing the lighting guy to concentrate on patches, not on tap tempo.

Re: Auto BPM for MacOS
But MTC basically sends time messages. And if we right understand, your device sends some kind of "pulses", which match with the music bpm.
Could you please tell us where we can find infos about this "MTC pulse" protocol ?

Re: Auto BPM for MacOS
while my genius tech guy works on the above post, i have another idea that would be of great help.
there is already speed control, but for each scene. A master speed able to be controlled by midi would be perfect. not tap but more like a slider or wheel
