MIDI Sequencer playback

Post by mshanestarward »

I am able to trigger buttons in LIVE via MIDI input.
I am also able to record these MIDI triggers in a MIDI sequence.
I am not able to play the MIDI sequencer and trigger these same buttons in LIVE.
Is there capability of inter application communication between my host sequencer (Digital Performer) and ShowXpress?

If your sequencer can be set as "Midi device" (means recognized as "Midi device" by the Operating System), it would be possible to select it from the "Midi patch" section in ControlBoard.

You are correct (In Mac-speak, or at least Digital Performer-speak, I can use Interapplication MIDI to specify ShowXpress as an Output.)
The important step is to launch my sequencer before I launch ControlBoard.

Could you please elaborate on the method you got to work for this? I have IAC BUS active, but I cannot find a MIDI setup page in ControlBoard anywhere. I'm trying to send midi notes from Ableton Live via the IAC bus, to Live (damn, 2 applications with the same name, this is getting confusing). I can send the MIDI notes out to the IAC bus, but I cannot figure out how / where to get the ControlBoard / Live to see the IAC bus. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

THANKS

Right Click in the control board panel center near the top, then select DMX MIDI patch and noodle from there..
