Movinghead control by joystick

Post by Ecoflac »

Dear Lighting Controller Team!

Iv'e testet the DMX Control software and they've got a joystick control option for movingheads. :D
Is it possible to integrate such a option for Sweetlight to control the x and y axis with a joystick?

Thanks

We have doubts about using joystick to control a moving head (540° for pan and 270° for tilt) !
We need to wait for other users mind.

But this would be a great feature.
You could use a relative deflection e.g. if you tip the joystick to the right, the x coordinate changes one step.
If you push it for some seconds to the right, the movinghead moves till you stop pushing.

Sorry for my bad english,

have you ever used a joystick to program moving heads?
I have hardware controllers that do have/use joystick. Since this software has no real time recording capabilities it would be a PITA. Just use a trackball on the POINT pad (name?) within Editor. Same thing.

It is doable. One day I was bored and plugged a wired Xbox 360 controller up and downloaded a program called midijoy. Midijoy converts windows gamepads to midi messages. Each button is midi mapped and each axis is midi mapped, you can set each button/axis to what ever midi channel/note you want. If you need help setting up and I can make a tutorial with pics
