Help Understanding Preset's

Hey guys!

After a few weeks of playing i finally have a decent grasp of the software, but id like some help understand the preset's and how to set them up.

Obviously examples of this are on the demo light show, and i like how that is setup, so my question is:
What/how do you write the scenes to be able to use them? For example can i write scenes for the JUST the movement of heads and have a presets up so i can pick and choose colours/gobo's/stobe? If so how is his done?

Yes you can.

In the lightshow "demo_show":
- the scene "mirror1" is a movement (pan/tilt) for the mirror fixtures
- the scene "col_gob_mirror" is color/gobo steps (with names for steps) for the mirror fixtures (all other channels are not activated)
Please load these scenes in Editor, for more understanding.

Thanks for the quick response, just after posting this i had a brain wave and figured it out!
Can i ask though, how do i change the shape of the buttons? At the moment if i had say 6 scenes in to one page they are very thin and long, id rather have smaller squares like in the demo show!

Hey Chris,

Assuming you just want a button or scene that makes a device turn on and off, this is really simple. You just need to create a scene with two steps of short duration (down to the tenth of a second or longer if you prefer). One step should turn the device on and the other set to turn the device off. Then make a button of that scene or add it to a timeline. Make sure to tell it to loop that button or scene if using it on a timeline (this is the default setting). You can also add more steps to that scene and vary the on/off times to create a 'random' strobing effect.

All of this said, most DMX lights these days have a channel that controls a device strobing effect with varying speeds and other effects. Just check the manual for your device for its full DMX features.
