Can we use midi sliders for pan/tilt/color&gobo wheels ?

So I am having trouble understanding how to have a slider work for tilt/pan/color wheel/gobo's ect. Am I supposed to create a scene in the editor where each step contains a different color/gobo? After doing that do I save it, add it on live, and then have the slider learn the button? Sorry this is confusing me so far. Only been at it for 30 min but I couldn't find a manual or anything for reference.

Midi sliders works on Preset sliders in Live. So, yes, you have to create a scene where each step contains a different color/gobo, ... and then import it in Live, put the button in "preset" mode and assign a midi control to it.
