Hi,
I have to troubleshoot a permanent install that works with a sweetlight remote in standalone mode. I have been provided the lightshow folder that was initially used to program the sweetlight remote, but it seems to be for an older version of the software that I cannot determine.
Is there a way to upgrade an old light show to work with recent versions of the software ? How can I know for which version of the software the lightshow was made ?
Best,
Guillaume

Re: Working with old lightshows
Hello,
Open the file "../YourLightshow/thelightingcontroller.ini" with a notepad.
You will see a line "Version = ...".
Please tell us the complete line.

Thank you for your answer,
Well, there isn't a thelightingcontroller.ini file...
Here is a screenshot of the folder structure (not everything is unfolded).

Re: Working with old lightshows
Weird !
So no way to know the software version.
The date of the created scenes may help (?)
Otherwise, you will find the old major software versions here: https://forum.thelightingcontroller.com ... php?t=4553
You can install each of them and check whether they are able to run correctly your lightshow.
Very important: please make a backup of your lightshow before doing these tests.
It may be necessary to do each version check with the original lightshow.

Re: Working with old lightshows
If using Windows 10 or 11, do another search on the drive in question but ensure that in File Explorer under the View tab 'Hidden Items' is checked, and under the Search tab, 'Advanced Options' that System Files is checked. It seems as though on some machines the installed version has these options turned off!
Re: Working with old lightshows
Hi,
The scene files date from september 2013, which should match software version 6 if I look at older download links here on the forum. But I can't get version 6 to work under windows 11 (the window does not appear when the program launches). Can you confirm it does not work under windows 11 ? And if so, which version of windows would work ?
Best,
Guillaume

No we can't.Can you confirm it does not work under windows 11 ?
We stopped V6 in year 2014, so we do not guaranty it with any newer Windows version.
We do not guaranty that, but there is a chance it works on Windows 10.Which version of windows would work ?
Please try.

Re: Working with old lightshows
Have you tried running it in compatibility mode?
Right-click the executable or shortcut.
Select "Properties,"
Then "Compatibility" tab.
Tick "Run this program in compatibility mode for,"
Choose an older version of Windows. (Probably 7 or 8)
I have not tried it with this software but I find it works about 80% of the time with old software that will not run under 10 or 11.

Re: Working with old lightshows
Thanks ! The windows compatibility mode did the trick.
But I'm still not sure what software was used by the person who programmed the sweetlight remote. I've got a screenshot the person did of the software, but it does not correspond to any window I can see in any version of the software. I'm posting the screenshot here.
