So you need to keep the original dmx addressing (1/4/7) ?

That is true. The virtual channel isn't hard-wired. This channel controls the level of the rgb channels, that are set in another scene.

I think he means it would look like this:

Code: Select all

 R | G | B | VD1 | R | G | B | VD2 | R | G | B | VD3 |
C1 | C2 | C3 | VC1 | C4 | C5 | C6 | VC2 | C7 | C8 | C9 | VC3 |
VD# = Virtual dimmer to control 3 previous channels, RGB. In the above example, VD1/VC1 would control Channels 1, 2 & 3, VD2/VC2 would control Channels 4, 5 & 6. etc.
VC# = Virtual Channels, not tided to any fixture channels.
C# = Channels used by fixtures.

Is this what you were thinking of daan44444?

Thank you for all these explanations.
We unfortunetely do not see how to add this in the existing software, without rewriting a big part of the source code.
But this will be possible in the next big major software version.

I actually have a different question also. I was wondering if it could be possible to add a fade slider. Certain macros could be selected to work with this fade slider. You could change the time it takes to fade between macros that are selected. It could work just like a speed/master fader.

We can just say that the next big major software version will not be this year.

Please open a new thread for new requirements.

My heart is warmed! I haven't checked the forum for a while so the activity on this thread has given me hope. Yes! Essentially an option in fixture creator to add a virtual 4th channel that links the RGB or RGBW or RGBWA or RGBWA+UV in software only. That would be perfect for LED Strip DMX decoders. Thus allowing true dimmer style chases! Some higher end DMX decoders are now 16bit and provided a second 16bit "u" channel for each color. (Yet, inexplicable, still don't provide a hardware dimmer channel.)

So, essentially, in the fixture profile creator, a dimmer channel that would link any color channels - R G B W A UV - in software, then programmable in the step and generator editors. It should also automatically work when "Fade In" and "Fade Out" is applied to a button, and can be applied appear in any Master Fader Channel.

I know you are already developing v10. Are there plan to implement this feature in v10?
