Updating a Macro with a button without any name

Post by GPC »

UPDATING A MACRO BUTTON
If you try to update a 'Macro' button by adding an additional button with no name (just an image) it does not update that button to the macro button. I think the first button with no name gets added instead. This was also an issue in earlier versions.

Of course the simple answer is to name all the buttons, but sometimes a picture is all you need.

Many thanks, good work guys.

It is not possible to have a button without any name.
Please tell us more about this "no name" button.

As I had made images for the gobos etc. I decided not to name the buttons.
This can be done by simply using spaces; One space for the first button, two spaces for the second, three for the third and so on.
But this obviously ends up causing a clash of button names as they all seem to end up with the same value(?)
Which, I assume, is why updating the macro has a problem.

We will double-check if naming buttons with only space characters is well supported by the software, but it seems to work here anyway.
We named 2 buttons with " " (1 space character) and " "(2 space characters), and we were able to update a Macro with them.

Could you please post a video showing the problem ?

Not sure how to post a video here, so here's a temporary link to a video of the issue from my DropBox account:
***LINK REMOVED*** - see related direct email for link.

The video is clear, but we are still not able to reproduce this problem.
Please post a link to download your lightshow (https://forum.thelightingcontroller.com ... ?f=3&t=168).
We will double-check with your lightshow.

Please ignore our previous post.
After double-checking, it is not wise to support names with only space bars.
So this will be forbidden in next software version.
Sorry for that.
In the meantime, we note that a new function "Hide name" for buttons will be welcome.
