(V9 bet) - MacOS - "beat" option on scenes is grayed [fixed]

was wondering how to enable the "beat" option... im trying out the VDJ options and i have the signal from VDJ coming in fine. but what do i need to do to use it. from what i understand, it works with step scenes... but when i open the speed properties of a scene, the "beat" option is grayed and i cant select it...

This option is grayed with Generator & Pixels scenes.
It is available with Steps scene.
Please double check this is a Steps scene.

yeah, its a steps scene of just switching between the 3 basic colors... just a test scene to see if i could get the beat thing to work.

Wow. Very strange. Yes it is Version 9.0.4 Its a little old macbook but im running os high sierra 10.13.2 I dont think it would be a problem with Vdj? But ill go through all my settings. Should there be specific settings in showxpress that i might be missing?
