MIDI interface not seen

Hi,
trying to control showxpress from Ableton, I have a Mac sending MIDI notes to another Mac running showxpress. The notes are coming in and are seen by the USB MIDI cable interface (as shown by MIDI Monitor) so it IS there.
It looks like I have to define the interface to Showxpress but there is a big X
Can anyone advise what I need to do pls?

To declare the midi interfaces: main menu "File" > menu "Preferences" > section "Midi"

Yes - that's where I went. I have the IAC running and would have expected to see that in the MIDI box but there is just a big "X" - please see attached picture.

Well, I tried to attach a picture but got "Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached."

Pls see pic attached - it doesn't look as if ShowXpress is seeing my IAC driver. Should that X be there?
(I want to receive MIDI from ProPresenter running on the same machine)

I just plugged in my USB MIDI interface and ShowXpress sees that ok

And, looking at the IAC from ProPresenter, it seems to see it ok:

We see "USB Midi Cable". Is it the "core midi" device ?

If not, what is it ?

If this is another midi interface:
- double click on the arrow of the combobox to see if there is another midi interface in the drop down list
- disconnect this second interface and try again (restart all programs)

I tried that - (I was just checking that ShowXpress saw at least a hardware interface - and of course it does)
The interface I am trying to use is the Mac IAC = The IAC (Inter-application communication) Driver in Mac OS allows you to create virtual MIDI cables between applications inside the box, so to speak.
That's what isn't being seen by ShowXpress.
I've heard people are using it fine - I want to be one of those!

Sorry but we are not able to double check, because we do not have this device.
The only thing we can tell is our software just asks to the Operating System: "please tell me the available midi devices".
The Operating System returns a list, and our software shows it in the drop down list.
