Fade in/out not working

I have not been able to get the button fade in/out in live to work.

I created a simple scene with one step (no fade on step) that turns on a single channel house light dimmer to 50%.
Assigned a button in Live to the scene. The button turns the light on/off.
Turing fade in and out on for the button has no effect?
