Elation Platinum 5R Iris Issue

Post by djsounds »

Hello

I have a Elation platinum spot 5r.

My lights are in 17 channel mode.

I am running version 7.1.32 on a Macbook Pro Retina display using OSX Mavericks.

The iris (channel 14) seems to be reversed in 3D mode.

A DMX value of 0 gives a small iris diameter on the 3D screen but the light gives a very large output.

A DMX value of 191 gives a large diameter on the 3D screen but the light gives a small output.

The Elation manual has these values assigned to channel 14.

0-191 Max. diameter to Min.diameter

Not sure if its my light or the software as I just purchased them last week.

Thanks for your help.

3DView is presently able to manage only "pure" iris channel (0 to 255), with standard working mode (0 = narrow).
Sorry for this.

We take note of this problem.

Understood.

For the time being I made a custom work around to fix the 3D view issue.

I edited the Elation Platinum Spot 5R fixture profile to the following settings for IRIS channel 14. This will only work if you are in 17 Channel mode.

OLD VALUES:
000 191 index
192 223 pulse_close
224 255 pulse_open

NEW VALUES:
000 000 open
001 074 index
075 124 index
125 189 index
190 191 index
192 223 pulse_close
224 255 pulse_open

The following DMX values must be used in order to show a smaller diameter in 3D view as you move up in DMX values.

DMX = Large Diameter to Small Diameter
000 = Full open
050 = 75% open
100 = 50% open
150 = 25% open
190 = 1% open

The percentages are not perfect but at least they look similar in 3D view and live view.
