The Lighting Controller

Hu guys, I will go ahead and admit that I am EXTREMELY green when it comes to lighting. I just started learning ShowXpress about a month ago at my church, so I am trying to get a grasp of everything. One thing the current lighting tech has is with the Chauvet Slim Par Pro 9 CH LED's we use. If he adds the 9 CH lights in setup (which works in DMX mode), it doens't display in 3D mode. If I add the 4 CH version of the same light, then I can get them to work fine in 3D mode. It just doesn't have the versatility that the 9 CH does. Does anybody have any ideas on how I can get the 9 CH version to work in 3D mode so I can start planning shows on my computer through the week, and not have to worry about switching from the 9 CH and 4 CH? If I left some info out let me know and I will do my best to answer
