MACRO feature and random play [fixed]

Post by pablovivi »

Hi there, I'm new to posting but I've been using the software for many years now.

One of the things that kept me on V5 was the ability of MACRO many scenes, and have them play randomly. Since V6 is advanced enough now, I'm moving all my shows to V6, I'm almost there but I can't get around this issue. Maybe I'm missing something (I searched) or maybe this is a bug or feature not included.

One of the things I like to do is to have group of lights acting as randomly as possible, at the push of a button. For example, picture a Scanner with a channel for Color, one for Gobos, then Pan/Tilt.

For Live, the way I implement what I want is: I create a page with all the different "color Scenes" in it, one for all the different "Gobo Scenes" in it and one with some pre-determined Pan/Tilt "Shape Scenes" in it. Then by making all 3 pages Random-Play I get the effect I want.

To make the random effect active in one-click, I create a Macro Button. It works fine to get it going, but when I de-activate the Macro the scanners will keep going. This is because the Macro only turns OFF the buttons that Turned ON to begin with, but since the 3 pages were in Random Play there will be other buttons active now that the Macro didn't know about and the pages (Scanners) keep going.

How can I make the MACRO Button turn OFF all the buttons on a "Random-Play" Page where the MACRO turned something ON before?

Thanks...

- create a Macro which exclusively triggers one button from the "random" page
- switch on and off the Macro (fast enough to not trigger the next "random" button)

Yes I know you can do that, but I really want to let the Random effect run for awhile (I want the other buttons to be trigered).

After a few minutes of running, I'd like to turn it OFF (ideally with the same Macro button) Does it makes sense?

Thanks again!

Outside of the above described solution, we do not see another solution to switch off a button from a random page, via a Macro.

OK, then I didn't miss anything really :-(

But I think that this is something that could benefit lots of people if it was possible. The functionality would be:

If a Macro turns ON a Button on a "Random Page", then when deactivated it should turn OFF ALL the Buttons on that one page rather than just the original.

If this is something you guys can consider I'd be really happy and this would put V6 way above V5 considering all the million other improvements!
Thanks one more time, your product is a really good tool and customer support is up there :-)

MACRO feature and random play Feature needed

Post by pablovivi »

Hi there,

This post is related to a question I had before an now is a request (past post marked as “Fixed” but I still have the issue)

What are the chances you add the feature on Live to have a macro turning OFF all buttons on a “Random Play” page (and maybe a “Chase Play” page as well) when de-activated?

This will enable users to use the Macro Buttons more broadly. The way it works now is not really useful on “Auto-Play” pages because it won’t de-activate them.

Please let me know, this is a big deal for all my shows.

Thank you so much!

We think our solution is an acceptable "workaround" solution.
If some other users thinks different, we might add this in the TODO list.
Right now, this is not in the TODO list.

Reminder: we have around one year of things to do in the TODO list, and some of them are urgent.
