The D1024W device and its drivers do not work on Windows 10 64-bit.

Post by basquin »

Hello team :

Two major complaints:
No installation manual
And the utilities are inadequate or incomprehensible.

I received the D1024w device.
On Windows 10, it appears in Device Manager with an exclamation mark.
Cable and Wi-Fi.

When I download your drivers, Windows reports that it found no drivers.

This happens with both your latest and recent drivers.

It's surprising that in the 21st century you don't have a simple installer.

On the back, there's a switch for ST or AP mode... I don't know what that means.

Do you have accessible documentation?
Do you have drivers or, preferably, a simple installer for this hardware?

I'm going to test it on my Mac, hoping it's plug and play!

Thank you in advance.

Hello "complément d'informations"

-1- The driver installation process is a nightmare, which shows that your versions are beta tests.
It's unacceptable to have to go through the hassle of installing drivers on my Windows PC.

This needs to be addressed. It's 2026, after all.

-2- Let's talk about your (far too numerous) applications for controlling the live show from a phone or tablet.

In short: it's unheard of.

I thought that with the Sweetlight software classic, all you needed was a simple button to send these sequences to the device.

Then, you just had to launch APP1024w to start the show. Well, no... it's not that simple... My phone sees the box (green dot), I click on it, and it's empty!
The same thing happens with the SweetLight application on my PC: there's no "export your show" button on the 1024w interface!
Is it so complicated to make things simple? One button = one export!
I've developed a lot of software and interfaces, and I always asked users to review the ergonomics of my interfaces.
It looks like a Soviet nuclear power plant straight out of the 1970s! :) We understand absolutely nothing about your numerous applications and the unreadable documentation!

These comments are made in the hope that you will correct all these problems, which are a real obstacle to using your system. It's very, too complicated, and therefore not user-friendly enough. It's a shame because Sweetlight... The Lighting Controller Classic version is very good.

I have no problems with SUNLIGHT.

I'll try for another week to get your system working from a tablet or phone.

Do you have any videos tutorials in French on how to send my The Lighting Controller Classic scenes to this 1024 box, and then explain which iPhone app to use? Because between app1024w, LiveMobile, and The Lighting Controller, we understand absolutely nothing!

Hello,

Thank you for your detailed feedback — we understand that your first experience has been frustrating, and we appreciate you taking the time to explain the issues.

Let me clarify the different points:

1. Installation manual
A full installation guide is available here: https://forum2.thelightingcontroller.co ... .php?t=174
We agree that this documentation could be more visible, and we are working on improving accessibility.

2. USB driver installation (Windows)
Here is a step-by-step video guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trr0uqop1TQ
And the related explanation: https://forum.thelightingcontroller.com ... f=7&t=5083
This process is identical for D1024W and other interfaces.
That said, your feedback is valid — we are currently considering adding a one-click installer to simplify this step.

3. AP / ST switch
This is standard Wi-Fi behavior:
AP (Access Point) → the interface creates its own Wi-Fi network
ST (Station) → the interface connects to your existing Wi-Fi network
Your device (PC / phone / tablet) must be connected accordingly.
Full explanation here: https://forum2.thelightingcontroller.co ... .php?t=174

4. macOS compatibility
Yes — on macOS, the device is plug & play, no driver required.

5. “Export” to the interface
This is an important point:
The D1024W does not run the full PC show.
It requires a standalone show format, which is simplified and optimized for embedded playback.
This is why the workflow differs from a simple “export button”.

6. Mobile applications confusion
We understand this can be confusing at first, so here is a clarification:
- TheLightingController_Classic (PC) → main programming software (V9)
- Live Mobile → remote control app of the PC software
- TheLightingController_D1024W → remote control app of the interface D1024W
Each app has a different role depending on your setup.
FAQ for D1024W app:https://forum2.thelightingcontroller.co ... .php?t=203
Live Mobile info: https://forum.thelightingcontroller.com ... php?t=4552

Final note
Our system has been used by many users for over 25 years across different environments and use cases.
However, we acknowledge that the learning curve can vary depending on the user’s expectations and prior experience.

Your feedback is valuable and helps us improve both documentation and usability.
If needed, we can guide you step by step to get your setup working properly.

Hello, thank you for this very clear help.

I understand the first problem I had on my PC.
The decompression of your USB DRIVERS archive is clearly incomplete on my Windows system.

Indeed, I only have three files in the 64-bit folder:
1 - EFKCable (catalog)
2 - EFKcable (system file)
3 - ftddibus.sys

The 64-bit folder therefore only contains these three files; the following are missing:
cable.inf
i386
amd64

But perhaps this is an old video and an old archive that you are presenting in the tutorial.

If not:
There must be a decompression problem on my computer with WinZip and/or 7-Zip...
So I performed a system installation of the drivers using a different method than your explanatory video.

I did it via:

"Select the device type from the list below"
then

"Common Hardware Types"
Then I chose:

"Universal Serial Bus Device"
Then I selected the EFK Cable path (configuration information)
And it works!

I tested the device on my Mac, and there, on the other hand, a thousand congratulations to you, it was recognized on the first try and works perfectly.
On the Windows PC, after installing the drivers, the interface also works without any problems.

I use both operating systems because I have an entire venue that uses your software on Windows (a cabaret) and another show (a traveling show) on Mac.

I transfer my shows from one system to the other.

Regarding the documentation:
It's not visible by clicking next to your products, which is a shame, because I searched the website... and couldn't find it.

As a result, it took me a while to realize it was a QR code on the back of the device! :) This means you need a phone to view it, then transfer it to the device to read it and perform the necessary actions simultaneously in the software.

Regarding the Android or iOS software...
I'm really struggling to understand how to send scenes from the PC or Mac using TheLightingController (standard) to the device...

I think that, if I understand correctly, the Android or iOS apps are simply remote controls, thus controlling the application on the PC.

So, if I can't get it working, or if it's just remote controls, I'll buy a laptop with a touchscreen to use TheLightingController directly on it.

I might have chosen the wrong device, because the Wi-Fi won't be of any use to me in this setup.

I'll email you screenshots of the driver installation on my PC if you'd like.

I also suggest you create tutorials in French on my setup and how I use your solution, because unfortunately, there aren't many up-to-date French tutorials online. The average one is over 8 years old.

Thank you for your time and patience.
